We have been advised by Malcolm Smeaton, Management Board Secretariat, that the transfer agreements for London, St. Thomas, Lakehead, Hamilton, Kingston and Brockville Psychiatric Hospitals have received Cabinet approval.

It is his opinion that Kingston and Hamilton Psychiatric Hospitals will be the first two to transfer over to receiving hospitals in early fall, likely in October. The only limitation to moving the other Hospitals at the same time are the logistics faced by the Ministry of Health in handling an undertaking of that size.

We have requested that O.P.S.E.U. be notified of the transfer dates at least a week in advance of the actual transfer announcement, however no commitment was given, as the announcement will be made by the Ministry of Health and not Management Board.
