OPSEU President Thomas to officially open strike headquarters in Owen Sound

OWEN SOUND – Warren (Smokey) Thomas, President of the 130,000-member Ontario Public Service Employees Union, will open the Local 276 strike headquarters, and visit the picket line at the Grey Bruce Health Unit on May 13th.

The 27 office and clerical employees of the health unit have been on strike since May 1. Wages for this group lag 15 per cent behind their counterparts in other health units, and in comparable jobs in Grey, Bruce, Simcoe, and across Ontario.

What: News media availability – headquarters opening and picket line visit

When: Tuesday May 13, 8:00 a.m.

Where: Strike headquarters is located opposite Tim Horton’s on 9th Street East, at the Sydenham River Bridge. Picket Line is at the corner of First Avenue West and 9th Street West, Owen Sound (just across the river).
