OPSEU leadership to tour picket lines in Strathroy, Chatham, London and St. Thomas
 

July 16, 2007 OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas and First Vice-President Treasurer Patty Rout will spend time on the picket lines with striking developmental services workers in London, Chatham, St. Thomas and Strathroy Tuesday July 17.

More than 1,000 developmental service workers in four Southwestern Ontario community living agencies have been on strike for four weeks as the McGuinty government refuses to provide improved funding for developmental services.

Striking workers at these agencies in London, Middlesex, Chatham-Kent and Elgin are paid 25-30 per cent lower than workers in equivalent positions in other fields.

Expected arrival times and locations in each city are as follows:

Strathroy: 82 Front Street, Tuesday 8:00 a.m.

Chatham: 9195 St. Anthony Street, Tuesday, 10:15 a.m.

London: 190 Adelaide, Tuesday, 12:15 p.m.

St. Thomas: Waterworks Park, Tuesday, 2:15 p.m
